Nuka and Noodles
Who: Curie, Paladin Danse, Piper ?
Where: Diamond City
When: Sometime after this.
What: Curie is sitting on the bench just outside of Piper's with a bowl of Power Noodles that she happily bought from Takahashi along with a bottle of Nuka Cola to wash it down with. And she waits for Nat to run and find Piper for them. As much as Diamond City still has a dislike of synths, Curie still loves every chance she has to visit the city.
"I do hope Mademoiselle Wright won't mind helping us with this rather impressive en devour of ours," says Curie with a twinge of hope in her voice. And while the trek to Diamond City was rather uneventful, Curie does hope for a bit more excitement to come their way. "And I do hope this is not a bother for you." She really hopes Danse is up for this, and she knows all too well this is a dangerous thing for Danse to do since his exile from The Brotherhood. And with the Prydwen still visibly moored at the airport despite the heavy clouds, Curie still has to wonder what has drawn Maxson's ire this time.
But she lowers her head, and she stirs her noodles with her chopsticks before she eats another mouthful just as a drop of rain falls to the ground at her feet. "Oh dear, perhaps we ought to wait for Piper inside."

"And I got a wonderful Overcharged Automatic Laser Rifle, complete with a gyro compensating lens and glow sights!" He is going to try to sell off his best piece of gear to someone who looks like he has money.
And his eyes drift down towards Curie. "And for you, I have just the thing." He bends down to pull out a combat shotgun. "Nobody should ever wander the wastelands without one of these!"
Curie looks at the shotgun and she ponders for just a moment. "Mmm. No thanks. I'm looking to purchase a power armor frame, monsieur. And we also require some fusion cell ammo." For as sweet as she is, Curie knows when it is time to let her business side show. And she then turns around to Danse, and she wonders if he is going to need anything. And of course, it dawns on her. "We will also need some fusion cores!"
no subject
"Yes. We need as many fusion cores as you have in stock. We have quite a journey ahead of us."
Danse does find himself looking at the Laser Rifle though, even though he is perfectly happy with the one he already owns.
no subject
As for Curie, she looks at the shotgun and she picks it up from the stand to look at it. "I find laser weaponry to be more to my tastes." And she does have her laser rifle back with the rest of her belongings. "And I'm sure, I can find one of these in the wastes."
She turns to look to Danse having not miss him looking at the rifle. "Do you wish to purchase the laser rifle?" She asks. "I think it can prove useful besides your own weapon."
no subject
He shakes he head. "However, I do not need another. Our caps are better spent on more essential items."
Once the power armor frame is brought out, Danse smiles at Curie. "Your very own frame. How does it feel?"
no subject
Arturo steps out from Curie's suit, and he motions to it with his hand. "It is all yours for 3000 caps." They aren't cheap, and are neither the fusion cores or ammo they are buying.
But Curie quickly hands Arturo the caps, and she then heads over to the frame and she steps in. She wiggles the metal fingers and she squats down as if she were trying on a pair of jeans she dug up. "A bit tight, but I suppose that is normal." She looks over to Danse, as she straightens herself up and she smiles. "Oooh! I do like that I feel a lot taller, and this will do very good when it comes to reaching items on very tall selves."
no subject
"You will get used to the confinement. It can feel a little claustrophobic at first."
no subject
Clump. Clump. Clump. Clump.
"It isn't very stealthy, but I do not think that is the point of power armor." Curie looks at Danse, and she nods her head. "I can see how that can be a problem. But I'm sure I'll get used to it. That's if we ever find a helmet."
She stops in front of him, balls her hands into a fist and flexes them again. "But it is still very tight."
no subject
"Stealth is not the strongest factor of power armor, it must be said. However, there are modifications that be made to make it quieter. We must see about collecting components to make improvements."
no subject
But Curie seems interested to learn all about these modifications, but before she can ask Danse, Nat comes running towards them with a big smile on her face.
"We got you two that Brahmin! You best come take a look before it wanders off again!" Nat huffs and she puffs, and she hates that Piper didn't mention Brahmin like to wander and do lots of silly things. Like getting stuck between trees or going into abandoned buildings. "And don't worry it has all of its legs!"
no subject
"Then I suppose we should go see this magnificent beast. Lead the way."
no subject
And Nat turns around with a big smile as she looks up at Danse and Curie. "Just remember you two will owe us some stories. And I mean lots of stories. Oh and Piper's got a favor to ask you both."
"Oh?" Curie says, as she goes to gather their belongings and she steps out of her power armor, so she can properly store them in the scribe's backpack before she gets back into the suit.
no subject
"Of course, we'll bring back all the stories." He nods and gathers up his supplies so he can head back on over to where Piper and their new fantastic pack beast is waiting.
no subject
"Hey! Com'on you big lummox, that stuff isn't even worth eating!" Piper groans, and then she happens to lift her head up to see Danse and Curie again with a wide smile on her face.
And this is when the Brahmin decides to break free and head for the grass that it was determined to eat. "I take Nat told you that I wanted to ask you something more than to just get me stories." She places her hands behind her back, and she smiles shamelessly.
"I was thinking of having you two deliver some issues of The Synthetic Truth, but to be honest without The Institute, we're left without a proper boogeyman to unite over. But after thinking about Blue, I was wondering if you can dig up more on Vault-Tec. I mean they did all of those horrible experiments on people."
no subject
"Oye, I'll need to be far more careful with these very big feet." And Curie frowns a little at the mention of needing a common enemy, and then Vault-Tec. "That was a long time ago, and I do not think Vault-Tec is a threat anymore." Her eyes drift upwards towards the Prydwen and then towards Danse.
"It seems we need to see if there is still that common enemy inside of The Commonwealth." Her attention has since drifted from the Brahmin that is trying to get the grass in the cement.
no subject
He instinctively reaches out to try and steady Curie as she trips. Power armor can take some getting used to. Everything is bigger, bulkier and less delicate. The brain can take awhile to adjust.
"No doubt there are still undiscovered vaults out there - some may even still be occupied... It is a long shot, but we will see what we can find out. Even the Institute may not be completely gone... who knows how many scientists made it out in the evacuation - if any - they may have gone to ground, decided to continue their work. Or perhaps there are other branches out there in the world."
He grits his teeth, not missing Curie's glance to the Prydwen. "The Commonwealth will always have enemies."
no subject
There seems to be more reason to why Piper wants those two to find a vault, and as hateful as the people of the city are they don't deserve living under the thumb of Maxson. That is if they don't follow him blindly.
"Just whatever you two do, just keep safe and maybe I'll see you two again." She smiles, and she wanders over towards their brahmin. "And don't worry, I'll make sure Blue behaves himself."
no subject
Protecting the Commonwealth is one thing, segregation and punishment of synths is something else entirely. Boy how times have changed!
"We'll be as careful as we can be. It is a dangerous, unpredictable world out there though."
no subject
And it is almost possible for Danse to know what she is thinking, and maybe there is more reason to this vault thing than she wants to let on. And the harden and worried look vanishes in favor of a forced smile. "Just make sure you got plenty of Med-X and stimpacks. Oh, and stay clear of the chems! And be sure to let me know if you find a vault! Because if you do I'll come join you, because I've got an idea or two up my sleeves."
She grabs hold of the rope to the Brahmin, and she goes to hand it off to Danse out of worry it might drag Curie for a ride if it finds something tasty to eat or a ruined house to climb.
no subject
"And do not worry, we will be very safe and we will make sure to find away to get in contact with you." Curie looks at Danse, and she tilts her head to the side. "Though how is that possible? There is no telephone and I do not believe the mail has been delivered in two hundred years! Is there a Pony Express? Telegraphs?" Curie's appetite to learn about this new world is massive, and learning more about how people have adapted is almost as interesting than to see how bacteria and viruses have evolved in a radioactive wasteland.
And she looks to the Brahmin who snorts in annoyance at being distracted from the dry tufts of grass. "I think we should get going before it gets dark." Curie spins around, and she looks at the compass with a smile on her face. "Now to pick a direction and to follow it! Monsieur Danse?"
no subject
"We will find a way to make contact. I'm sure there must be some kind of radio towers beyond the Commonwealth we can get operational. Or perhaps we could attach notes to the wild birds and hope they find their way back here..." He doubts there is any official mail channels these days. Perhaps once they secure more settlements then the can try establishing a mail route - an ambitious goal.
The Brahmin will have plenty to eat along the way. Danse can't see the appeal of dried, irradiated grass, but the beast seems thrilled at the prospect.
"Hm. How about west?"
no subject
"I would avoid the birds. Rumor from some of the settlers is the crows are cameras sent from The Institute." But Curie isn't sure what to make of those rumors, they are simply rumors and perhaps crows somehow survived the bombs. And then there are the gulls, are they cameras too? She looks up towards the sky as they make their way west, and she frowns as she looks at the broken buildings of Boston and she wonders what stories they can tell.
"And let us not forget that we were going to visit The Boston Public Library." Curie still wants to find some pre-war books that were left untouched by the war.
no subject
"Of course, we must not forget about the library. Those books must be preserved for the future - if any have survived this long, especially the mutants lingering there. Those beasts have no respect for literature."
Handwavey to Boston Public
"Let us hope the mutants have decided to leave the library alone." She walks over towards the door, and she gives it a tug only to find that it is locked. And there is the automated voice telling giving them a variety of options. And Curie goes to pick the one stating they work there, and it is completed with the sound of the door opening.
And without hesitation, Curie uses her metal hands to open the door and she steps inside. And a look of wonder is soon replaced with one of sadness. "To think of all of the books that has been ruined over the years." And the sound of the Protectron security team can still be heard waddling about the halls. "Le'sigh but let us hope there are still some books that have withstood humanity and nature."
no subject
He rests a hand on Curie's shoulder - well, the metal plating covering her shoulder at least, in what he hopes is a comforting gesture.
"I'm sure some must have survived. Who knows, perhaps there are electronic records as well..."
